Case Studies
City of Bakersfield, California Transportation Operations Center (TOC)
Americon was selected to provide the City of Bakersfield with a DLP video wall and custom
control room consoles for its planned renovation and relocation of its TOC. Americon tasks included design, space planning, manufacturing, integration and installation. The specifications were somewhat outdated, so Americon worked with the City and local contractor to bring the solution up to date. Americon presented a variety of room layouts and console configurations from which a linear console design was ultimately selected. The Americon Visionmaster DLP video wall is a freestanding modular cabinet with all of the components stored in the base. Although the video wall was originally planned to have the backside placed against the wall, the owner decided that the video wall should be moved forward and enclosed with a door entrance. I should add that the design of the freestanding video wall cabinet allows front access to all electronics; however the owner preferred access from both sides. Americon manufactured and installed the video wall; the local contractor completed the dry wall surround. The following is a series of photos depicting the step-by-step progression of the room.
City of Corona, California Traffic Management Center (TMC)
Americon was selected to provide the City of Corona with custom control room consoles for its planned TMC upgrade. Americon tasks included design, space planning, manufacturing and installation. Americon presented a variety of room layouts and console configurations from which the cockpit style console was ultimately selected. The consoles were planned for placement in the middle of the room oriented toward the video wall; however there was no existing raised flooring for routing cables for power, data and voice to the consoles. Americon solved this problem by designing custom storage cabinets for binders and printer space that doubled as cable paths to the consoles. Each console was outfitted with motorized hydraulic lifting for sit-to-stand, steel integrated slat wall for attaching equipment arms, articulating monitor arms and task lights attachable to the slat wall, drawer pedestals, CPU storage, and both front and rear access.
